House-for-rent scam busted

BY LOH FOON FONG, BEH YUEN HUI, AND A. RAMAN

POLICE nabbed three suspects involved in a web advertisement cheating case involving purported homes for rent in Bandar Indera Mahkota, Kuantan, Sinar Harian reported.

Thirteen individuals fell victim to the three suspects aged between 26 and 40, and lost a total of RM11,900.

The report stated that police had set up a special task force to nab the suspects.

One of them was arrested while he was carrying out a bank transaction in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Following his arrest, police managed to detain two more suspects in Kuantan.

Initial investigations revealed that they had used a website to advertise houses for rent in Bandar Indera Mahkota.

They had asked for RM500 to RM700 as a deposit when there were no such homes available for rent.

After the victims banked in the money, the suspects switched off their mobile phones and shared their “loot”.

Police received 13 reports from men and women aged 20 to 30.

> Crocodile “diviner” Indet Senabong, 49, said it took him half an hour to “coax” the reptile that killed and regurgitated a man to be less aggressive before he dragged it to the riverside, Harian Metro reported.

He caught the 5m-long reptile which was believed to have killed Adrian Thomas, 32, in Sungai Tingam, not far from Lubuk Emplaie in Sarawak.

Indet, who lives in Tawala Spaoh Longhouse, Betong, said he was certain that it was the same crocodile that killed Adrian based on its size and colour.
