POST RACE URINE/BLOOD: SUNDAY
SINGAPORE 18 OCTOBER MEETING 2009

1 32 coded urine and 36 coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

2 All samples were analysed and none failed except for Sample Coded No 0028083 which revealed the presence of 3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan and which was reported to have been taken from the horse, BIG MAVERICK, trained by Trainer L Laxon, which was the winner in Race 10 (Raffles Cup) on the above date.

3 Trainer L Laxon was notified of the findings on Monday 2 November 2009. He was also notified of the provisions of MRA Rules 137 in regard to his rights and obligations in regard the Referee sample. Trainer Laxon subsequently exercised his right to have BIG MAVERICK's Referee Sample sent overseas for independent analysis

4 In addition, Trainer Laxon was advised pursuant to MRA Rule 134 (12) which states,

"Any horse that fails its pre-race and/or post-race screening test conducted by the MRA Laboratory and/or veterinary examination shall be barred from starting in any race until clearance is given by the Stipendiary Stewards."

5 As such, Trainer Laxon was advised that BIG MAVERICK would not be permitted to start in the Singapore Gold Cup on Sunday, 08 November 2009 until a sample from BIG MAVERICK has been cleared by the Singapore Turf Club Laboratory.

Woah. Look at Sundays race card and you will find Big Maverick in line up. Double standards or some one fail to update the results of the analysis? Sometimes I think the farking club will look the other way when it comes to 'big name' trainers. Is this a precedent? You be the judge. Hell, it stinks to high heaven from my perch!!!:oIo:

POST RACE URINE/BLOOD:
SINGAPORE 18 OCTOBER MEETING 2009

RACE 10 [TF1297] : BIG MAVERICK

32 coded urine and 36 coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

All samples were analysed and none failed except for Sample Coded No 0028083 which revealed the presence of 3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan and which was reported to have been taken from the horse, BIG MAVERICK, trained by Trainer L Laxon (pictured above), which was the winner in Race 10 (Raffles Cup) on the above date.

After being notified of the findings, Trainer Laxon exercised his right to have BIG MAVERICK's Referee Sample sent overseas for independent analysis. The subsequent analysis of the Referee Sample confirmed the presence of 3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan.

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Monday, 18 January 2010, Trainer Laxon was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule of Racing 134(6) in that he, as the Trainer of BIG MAVERICK, presented that horse which took part in Race 10 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 18 October 2009, following which a urine sample taken from that horse failed a post-race screening which was found to contain the presence of 3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing. Trainer Laxon was fined a sum of S$25,000 and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In terms of Rule 134(11), BIG MAVERICK was disqualified from the race and the result amended accordingly.

I am sure Laurie Laxon is a nice chap but is this a case of too big to banned? STC, how about being transparent with the measures being meted out.
