A businessman who abused and head-butted a police officer on the face was jailed, fined and banned from driving for the two offences and drink driving on Monday.

Auric Sim Siu Ju, 35, admitted to using abusive words and causing hurt to deter Sergeant Koh Chee Wee, 22, from discharging his duty, and driving when his blood alcohol level was not less than 135mg per 100ml of blood, on Jan 18, 2010. The legal limit is 80mg.

Acting on a tip-off, Sergeant Koh and his partners went to the carpark of Block 61 Chai Chee Road at about 2.50am and woke Sim up. His car was parked in a motorcycle lot. The engine and headlights were on, and the gear was at the 'drive'' mode.

Sim was reeking of alcohol. Sgt Koh asked him to switch off the engine and step out. While effecting arrest, Sim resisted but was subsequently handcuffed and placed behind the back of the police car.
