Hooker forced to carry on 'family business'
Tue, Jun 29, 2010
The Star/Asia News Network
A 21-year-old street prostitute in Kuala Lumpur has accused her mother of forcing her into carrying on with the "family business", reported Harian Metro.
Known only as Ila, the woman, who has been charging her customers only RM30 ($12.90) per session, said her mother coaxed her into the sex industry three years ago.
"My drug addict father left us in 2002. Since then, my mother would leave home for work in the evening and only returned at four in the morning," she said, adding that she began to suspect something amiss when she noticed the different men sending her home each time.
Upon completing her secondary school, Ila's mother took her to Petaling Street and introduced her to an old man in an old shophouse.
"It was then that I realised that my mother had been offering sex services in the building," she said, adding that she was soon asked to act as "replacement" for her mother after the latter got ill.
"I felt disgusted, but my mother said I had no choice as that was the only source of income.
"She told me that I should see it as a family business," she said, adding that she might get up to RM2,000 each month "if business was good".
