this is the darkest Mother's Day especially to my diligent maid. she just got a call from home that her eldest son of 23 y.o was in a coma in an accident.

his son drove a motorbike. while trying to avoid running over a stray dog, skidded and was himself run over by a oncoming car. he was in a coma but the plug was pulled yesterday after doctors certified him "brain death".

today being Mother's Day is a heart-wrenching one for her. she lost her son. she was planning to go back during the school holidays. guess the wifey suggested she could go home earlier to attend to her son's funeral.

we must appreciate our maids, our loyal domestic helpers. it's already a very sad thing that they have to leave home to come to our shore to work humbly as a maid so that they could earn enough to support their families back home.

many singaporeans just take things for granted. if u are paying, DO NOT BEHAVE like a tyrant as though money is everything.

Maids - and other foreign workers - make alot of sacrifices to leave their families to work elsewhere. if u were posted abroad to work - thousands of miles from your family and loved ones, perhaps u would be more mindful about the longing feeling for home.

i hope singapore could beside honoring Mother's Day can have a special day to honour our maids. maybe we simply call it:

HONOUR OUR MAIDS' DAY

in appreciation for the invaluable domestic help to many families especially the mothers. don't forget. some maids are also mothers and they truly deserve better respect than what they used to get here in singapore.

sadhu, sadu to Antonio. may u rest in peace and your mum shall be back tomorrow. that i promise you!

didn't know that my wifey was such a wise, kind and mindful dear until now.

she withdrew a few thousands which she was saving monthly and secretly for our maid. she intended to reward her when one day the pinay maid decided to return to her hometown for good. she had been a wonderful and diligient maid. this was the 3rd term we had her. her contract was anyway ending soon. wifey allowed her to return to bid her beloved son last farewell. just in case, she won't be coming back, she might as well reward her in advance with the secret saving she had accumulated for her. this money would be timely too at such a distressful time.

had a busy morning and just sent off our maid. she thanked us gratefully and said she would be back. we hope so too.

HONOR THY MAID.....

they might be maid, they are also humans, mothers and someone missed back in their own hometown. they have made much sacrifices for their own families. let's vouch for a special to appreciate ALL MAIDS WORKING IN SINGAPORE.

Let's have an official:

HONOUR OUR MAIDS' DAY

every year in appreciation for their invaluable services rendered.
