SINGAPORE: The Singapore Police Force and the Hong Kong Police Force have crippled a transnational housebreaking syndicate.

Singapore police said on Sunday that they arrested three Hong Kong citizens for possession of items that could be used for housebreaking and for loitering with the intention to commit crime.

They acted on information provided by Hong Kong police on 4 July.

They monitored the syndicate's activities in Singapore over the past few days.

They also identified the favourite haunts, networks and operating mode of the syndicate.

At about 9pm on 7 July, they arrested the three suspects in a private residential estate at Tanjong Katong.

The suspects, aged between 50 and 55 years, were arrested in their rented vehicle.

Police also seized items that could be used for housebreaking, as well as gloves, maps of Singapore and walkie-talkie sets.

The suspects will be charged in court on Monday.
