Hong Kah GRC MP Ang Mong Seng issues challenge to Reform Party
SINGAPORE : Member of Parliament for Hong Kah GRC, Ang Mong Seng, has issued a challenge to the Reform Party.
He wants the opposition party led by Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam to come up with a long-term plan if it intends to contest in his Bukit Gombak division in the next General Election.
Mr Ang was outlining his five-year plan ahead of a ministerial community visit by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Lim Hwee Hua, on July 11.
He said his plan aims to meet the demand for more childcare centres, address the needs of an ageing population and build a strong, united and caring community.
Another focus will be bridging residents of the private and public estates through social and recreational activities.
Mr Ang noted that the Reform Party had visited his ward once this year.
He expressed confidence that the GRC team of the People's Action Party (PAP) would do well in the next General Election.
Mr Ang said: "I have been an MP for the Gombak division for 14 years. So, we have worked very closely with the grassroots leaders, especially all the residents. I treat them as my good friends. So if the party thinks it wants me to continue, I will take up the challenge again to serve our residents."
