the old testament is a genocidal compilation of books. the new testament is a suicidal compilation of books, especially when the theme is about voluntary death of the old and resurrection of the new being.

You're right. Both religions are barbaric and violent. Only difference is while the West has gone through the Enlightenment which resulted in the separation of State and Church and establishment of secular laws, the Islamic nations have yet to do so. No Westerner takes the bible seriously today, save for the fundamentalists in the American Bible Belt.

The blame doesn't actually lie with religion; it lies with a stupid people's inability to transcend the irrational, fairy-tale and dehumanizing aspects of their religion.
