The amendment to the "Fugitive Offenders Ordinance" has affected Hong Kong, and universities have become battlefields. More than 2,300 students have been arrested for participating in anti-revision demonstrations. The government urges not to try the law or destroy the future. The Chief Secretary for Administration, Zhang Jianzong, said yesterday that nearly 6,000 people had been arrested in the demonstrations in the past six months, nearly 40% were students, and the youngest was only 12 years old. He emphasized that children and young people are the pillars of society and describe "no one is indispensable", but Hong Kong is a society ruled by law, so those arrested will be punished by law. He also stated clearly that the independent review committee proposed by the Government would not conduct reviews only for the police or special groups.
910 arrested under 12 years old
After attending the exchange meeting of the Committee on Children's Affairs yesterday, Zhang Jianzong took the initiative to mention that as of the 29th of last month, 5,890 people had been arrested for anti-revision storms, of which nearly 40%, or 2,300 Forty-five people are students, of whom 910 are under the age of eighteen, and the youngest arrestee is only twelve. He said that the government will try its best to ensure that their rights and interests will not be damaged, but emphasized that Hong Kong is a society ruled by law, so those arrested will be punished by law. He also urged students and young people not to try their own ways or self-destruct the future. The Education Bureau has already written to 30 government secondary schools and subsidized school sponsoring groups. He hoped that the school would work together to cultivate the next generation and guide the students.
As for the Polytechnic University, which was closed for more than two weeks, it was unsealed the day before yesterday. The Zhang Zhi incident reflects the government's peaceful approach. The police are also very restrained, tolerant and peaceful. More than a hundred flammable objects were worried, and he hoped that after the PolyU battle, Hong Kong would return to a rational and legal society.
Team Review Committee is looking for candidates
When asked about the government's proposal to set up an independent review committee, Zhang pointed out that the role of the committee is to cooperate with the work of the IPCC, and the IPCC will submit a preliminary report early next year, which will reorganize the "721" Yuen Long Indiscriminate Attack on White Men, "831" The police are involved in the violent arrest at the MTR Prince Edward Station, the Xinwuling incident, etc. He emphasized that the review committee would not only conduct a review for the police or special groups. It would understand the antecedents and consequences of social events from a comprehensive and macro perspective, and would complement the IPCC. The committee is now looking for candidates to make progress in the short term.
In his speech yesterday, Zhang pointed out that children and young people are the engines of the future and development of the society, emphasizing that "no one can be less." Every young person can be made. The most important thing is to give opportunities. The society needs a good environment for them. Growth also refers to a peaceful evening in Hong Kong the night before. It is described as a new beginning. I hope that Hong Kong will gradually return to peace before society can move forward.
Secondary school principals' meeting: Don't give up on young people
In addition, Deng Zhenqiang, the president of the Principals of High School, rushed to PolyU to persuade the students to leave. He pointed out that the Hong Kong people are facing a social event with the longest duration in local history. Everyone can see that the street conflicts are heating up, and there is more and more violence and mutual criticism. Deng Zhiyan said that young people and adults are trapped in a cycle of incitement, hatred and harm and cannot extricate themselves. This is what educators are most worried about. He asked the society's talents and people of insight to stop giving up young people. He also hoped that young people would not give up adults and Hong Kong, let alone give up hope.

Nearly 5,900 people were arrested during the anti-revision demonstrations, and about four of them became students.

Zhang Jianzong urged students and young people not to test themselves or to destroy themselves.
