政府研智能的士司機證 收集數據改善服務 司機：咪知道晒收入？
港府提出把香港構建成為一個智慧城市，就連的士也要走向智能化。運輸署計劃在今年內展開探討將的士司機證電子化的可行性及可應用的科技工作，如透過淘汰目前的紙質司機證，改為電子智能司機證系統，藉此收集的士營運數據，並研究與的士咪錶結合，以改善的士服務，打擊如黑的、濫收車資等違規問題。然而，有的士司機擔心私隱問題，車主則憂司機年老化，需時適應新科技。
因應的士及公共小巴業界要求政府為司機證訂定較長的有效期，運輸署去年10月6日起延長的士及小巴司機證有效期至十年。根據法例司機在提供服務時，必須按規定在的士或小巴車廂內展示司機證，違者可被罰款2,000元。隨著科技愈趨發達，的士司機證亦走向智能化。運輸署回覆《香港01》查詢表示，該署及的士服務質素委員會，計劃在今年內展開探討將的士司機證電子化的可行性及可應用的科技工作，例如電子司機證系統可協助收集更多的士營運數據，配合智能交通的趨勢，並研究將電子司機證結合的士計程錶(俗稱咪錶)是否合適等。
本身是的士服務質素委員會成員的汽車交通運輸業總工會九龍分會主任杜燊棠表示，假若電子司機證能數集更多營運數據及結合咪錶，「有好有唔好」，不好是擔心涉及私隱問題，「搵咗幾多錢都知道晒」；從另一角度看，好處是可有助打擊「黑的」及濫收車資，並估計此乃為政府日後擬推出600部專營的士「鋪路」，「專營的士擬設僱傭制度，電子司機證對僱主有保障」。
車主支持行業與時並進 但要解決司機年老化問題
的士車行車主協會主席吳坤成表示，支持的士業與時並進，汽車業電子化是全球所趨：「無人駕駛已經有」，但本港的士行內司機不足及年老化問題嚴重，政府必須正視。根據運輸及房屋局最新數據，去年50至69歲持有的士駕駛執照有約16萬人，29歲或以下只有1070人，吳指，若然政府要推行電子司機證，建議需按步就班，要給時間予較年長的司機適應。

昨日(10日)清晨6時許，警方接獲一名外籍女子，在九龍塘聯合道一間醫院報案，指她較早時在中環一輛的士上，遭到一名男子非禮。警務人員接報到場經初步調查，案件暫列「非禮」，交由九龍城警區刑事調查隊跟進，暫未有人被捕。消息稱，女事主為美國籍，她在浸會醫院報警求助。

有女網民昨在facebook群組「將軍澳」上載一張收據，以及模仿的士司機如何將紙幣對摺找續的照片，她指本周二（5日）晚上9時許乘搭的士，抵達目的地，按錶收費連同附加費，總車費是192元，樓主則支付一張500元紙幣，理應找續308元。

In response to the taxi and public light bus operators requesting the Government to set a longer period of validity for the driver's licence, the Transport Department will extend the taxi and PLB driver licences to 10 years from October 6 last year. Under the law, drivers are required to display driver's cards in taxis or minibus compartments when providing services. Offenders may be fined $2,000. As technology becomes more developed, taxi drivers' licenses are also becoming smarter. The Transport Department's reply to the "Hong Kong 01" enquiries revealed that the department and the Taxi Services Quality Committee are planning to explore the feasibility and applicable technical aspects of the electronicisation of taxi drivers in this year. For example, the Electronic Drivers Card System can assist in the collection. More taxi operating data, in line with the trend of intelligent transportation, and study whether it is appropriate to combine the electronic driver's license with the taxi meter (commonly known as the meter).
Du Yu, the director of the Kowloon Motors Branch of the Automobile Transport and Transportation Federation, a member of the Taxi Services Quality Committee, said that if the electronic driver's license can collect more operational data and combine the meter, "there is good and good".
