Historic snow in Kamchatka: state of emergency triggered
The Kamchatka Peninsula, an isolated territory in the Russian Far East, is facing the largest snowfalls in nearly 30 years. Faced with the scale of the phenomenon, the authorities have declared a state of emergency.
The images are impressive: cars and houses buried, piles of snow sometimes reaching the second floor of the buildings, impassable roads that the inhabitants try to clear with a shovel. An extreme weather episode that paralyzes the region.
