As a Bak Chor Mee fan of Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle from my primary school days, I know why it has been hailed as SG’s best BCM. However, after receiving a Michelin Star 9 years ago, their prices keep going up while the quality of their noodles and fresh ingredients do not seem to be maintaining the once high standards that I am used to. During my last few visits to this stall at Crawford Lane, I ended up disappointed at both the portion size and price of my BCM. Like many once famous eateries, the stallholders seem to have problems ensuring that there is no drop in quality, even as their prices keep soaring.

On shithole island, what's written on the signboard is no longer an accurate reflection of its geographical location. Many examples out there.

P.S: Michelin is the kiss of death for any F&B business.

I have to order the $10 bowl of BCM these days from Tai Hwa Pork Noodle to enjoy a filling meal. The $8 small bowl hardly tickles my stomach. This stall no longer serves $6 portions.

The things being sold are the same. It's just the purchasing power of your precious Sinkie dollars has been declining.

Lol go kovan hawker market hv 2 still selling 4.50 BCM only
Tai Hwa's cousin Tai Wah has franchises all over S'pore. Their prices are $5, $7 and $9 for their BCM. The ingredients are roughly the same, but the one noticeable difference is that the soup by Tai Wah is not as tasty.

It’s never had any lustre to begin with.
Stewpig goondus queue for hours coz of the deliberate slowpoke.
Vile man that sued his own nephew
Kudos to the nephew now doing chain stall grew bigger than him.
Idiot idea of expanding is opening a stall next to his own in same coffeshop run by daughter but no ones wants to eat there
Chop carrot head prices take customers as fools

KNN michelin star ji ki lan ok ji ki lan.... end of the day is still overpriced coolie food....

There was no queue when I went to Tai Hwa several times at around 11 am, which is my usual early weekday lunch time to avoid the office crowd. I guess many regulars voted with their wallets after he started charging $8 for his smallest bowl of BCM.
