PM Lee hosts M'sian PM
SINGAPORE - MALAYSIAN Prime Minister Najib Razak on Sunday night was treated to dinner hosted by his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong at a hotel on Sentosa Island.
Mr Najib is here for a two-day working visit to the city-state beginning Sunday and a leaders' retreat at Shangri-La Hotel on Monday. The prime minister was accompanied by his wife Rosmah Mansor and several Malaysian Cabinet ministers to the dinner.
Among them were Foreign Minister Anifah Aman, International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed, Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop.
On Monday, Mr Najib will have a four-eye meeting with Mr Lee followed by a delegation meeting with the Singapore side. This will be the second bilateral meeting between the two leaders in Singapore since a year ago when Mr Najib came to Singapore for an official visit in May after taking over as Malaysia's fifth prime minister a month earlier.
In Monday's meeting, the two leaders are expected to touch on several issues of importance to their bilateral and economic ties, especially on the development of Iskandar Malaysia, the water supply agreement and Keretapi Tanah Melayu land in the island republic.
Malaysian ministers and officials when met were mum over the outcome of Monday's meeting, only saying it was up to the two leaders to decide on the issues should there be any breakthrough or new development since both of them met last year. -- BERNAMA
