The Villarreal attacker has been included in Ander Herrera's 23-man list, along with the Manchester United striker and Bayer Leverkusen's Andres Guardado
Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has named Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez and Villarreal's Giovani dos Santos in his 23-player squad for the World Cup.
Also included were Porto duo Hector Herrera and Diego Reyes, as well as Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, but Villarreal's Javier Aquino missed out, despite having a good debut season in La Liga.
Versatile veteran Carlos Salcido was a surprise inclusion and returns to the set-up having not previously been picked by Herrera, while Bayer Leverkusen's Andres Guardado is included despite some doubts over his fitness. Former Barcelona and Monaco defender Rafael Marquez has also earned a spot.
Herrera opted to pick five center-forwards, including 2012 London Olympic gold medal hero Oribe Peralta and youngsters Alan Pulido and Raul Jimenez, as well as Hernandez and Dos Santos.
Sixteen of the 23 players ply their trade in the Liga MX.
