He shot 85 upskirt videos in a day
Production engineer Tham Nam Sang scoured Ngee Ann City and several other malls for victims.
A PRODUCTION engineer secretly filmed up the skirts of 85 women in a single day at several shopping malls in 2008.
Tham Nam Sang, 47, scoured Ngee Ann City and other malls for women wearing skirts to make the 'upskirt' videos on Sept 6, 2008.
He used two digital cameras to commit the crime.
The court yesterday heard that after dinner at the Orchard Road mall, Tham placed one of the cameras in a paper bag, turned it on to recording mode and positioned the lens facing upwards.
He then walked behind his victims while holding the paper bag underneath their skirts to record the videos.
Later, he used the other digital camera to take a photograph of the victim's face to match the video. He made a total of 120 minutes of video clips.
Clad in a short-sleeved blue shirt and dark pants, Tham pleaded guilty to five counts of insulting modesty.
Community Court Judge Soh Tze Bian postponed sentencing pending a probation report.
Lawyer Jacob Lim said that his client was undergoing treatment for a major depressive disorder which he was suffering from at the time of the offence.
The maximum penalty for each offence is one year in jail and a fine.
