Just checking if there are ga-ki-nang brothers here in SBF who like this kind of traditional teochew music?

When I was a child, I disliked it when my (late) grandparents liked them. But I am beginning to like it very much now. I think our Government has made a mistake in not encouraging us to appreciate our ancestral dialects.

I do want to learn to appreciate such music, I have been searching for such CDs or the Teochew opera CDs for some times. If you are able to tell me where to get them I would very much appreciated.

Aiyo bro, I disagree with you leh :)

Good music and economic development are two separate things. Traditional teochew music, like western classical music (e.g. Beethoven and Mozart were both born in the 1700s), can last for centuries if they are well-passed down from generation to generation.

Hi bro Kangtangman, I am glad we have the same interests :)

Nowadays, you can find quite a lot of Teochew opera youtube videos on the internet. There are also youtube videos of teochew songs (not opera, but more like golden oldies or folk music).

Example like this one: 天顶一只鹅 - 潮州歌

Have you heard this one before? I remember my late granny used to sing this to me as a Lullaby!

Haha, thanks for the advise will look for those via YouTube. As for the lullaby I've not heard of it, because my granny and my parents prefer the opera type. Thanks again for the YouTube info.
