KLANG – The Anti-Trafficking in Persons (ATIPSOM) Sessions Court in Klang fixed 19 August for the sentencing on a lorry driver who forced his wife and daughter into prostitution.
Judge Datuk Zamzaini Mohd Zain also did not allow bail after the accused, who is also the biological father to the teenager pleaded guilty on the two charges pressed against him.
The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Evangelin Simon Silvaraj while the 43-year-old man was unrepresented. He was charged under Section 13(b) & 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) Act 2007 and Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code.
Upon conviction, he could be imprisoned for up to 20 years and liable for a fine.
On the first count, he was charged with sexually exploiting his wife, aged 37, at a water treatment plant and a condominium unit at 2 Batu 9 Cheras between January 2015 and May 2019.
On the second count, he was also charged with sexually exploiting his daughter, aged 13, at the same condominium unit, between January 2019 and February 2020.
The lorry driver was arrested in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur in July after the police received a report by the aunt of the teenager.
According to the report, the victim has been raped since she was 10 years-old and was forced into prostitution by her own father since mid 2019 until last February.
The police had also arrested three Pakistani and one Bangladeshi who were clients to the daughter of the accused in a separate raid in Batu 9, Cheras and Kajang.
The foreigners aged between 29 and 35 were also charged at the Kajang Court for rape under Section 376(2) of the Penal Code. –MalaysiaGazette
