I warmly congratulate Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his People’s Action Party (PAP) on their victory in the just concluded general election. The people of Singapore have spoken and, in doing so, have once again united to demonstrate their commitment to free and fair elections.
As strong supporters of good governance, the United States and Singapore set an example for the world. We share many common values, including respect for the rule of law. Our two nations have worked hard to build a strong, strategic bilateral relationship so we can jointly address common regional and global challenges.
The United States looks forward to continued close engagement with the Government of Singapore as we deepen our partnership, pursue our shared objectives, and expand people-to-people ties between our nations.
