A mainland Chinese man in his early twenties was arrested early Thursday morning after attempting to open a cabin door mid-flight on Cathay Pacific flight CX811 from Boston to Hong Kong.

The incident occurred around 4:45 am Hong Kong time while the aircraft was cruising.

The cabin crew immediately intervened, restrained the passenger, and confirmed the door remained securely closed.

No one was injured, and the flight continued without further disruption.

As the involved flight landed in Hong Kong at around 5am, the police boarded the plane to make an arrest.

The case is classified as “seeking police assistance” and is being investigated by Airport District Crime Squad Team 2.

Cathay Pacific confirmed that the crew followed established safety protocols throughout, prioritizing the well-being of everyone on board, and that the matter is now in the hands of the authorities.
