Grandson's kidnap staged so daughter can remarry
A WOMAN in Bangalore, India, was arrested for staging the kidnapping of her one-year-old grandson so that her divorcee daughter could remarry, reported Makkal Osai.
Gayatri, 45, who had staged the crime with two others, was later arrested and her grandson rescued.
The woman had wanted her daugh*ter, Supriya, 24, to remarry and thought that the child was an obstacle to her prospects.
On Dec 4, Gayatri attended a wedding with her daughter and former son-in-law in a nearby town. She claimed that while crossing the road after the wedding a white van pulled up and snatched her grandson.
At that time, the parents were in the hall where the wedding was.
However, CCTV footage later showed Gayatri speaking to the couple in the van before she handed the child over to them.
> Tamil Nesan reported that an electrician in Madikeri, some 20km from Bangalore, attacked his boss on Friday after his leave was denied.
B.N. Venkatesh had been told by his superior at the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation, C. Swamy, to postpone his leave due to the shortage of staff.
Upset, the man pulled out a knife and slashed off part of Swamy’s ear before kicking him in the abdomen.
Venkatesh later surrendered to the police and told them that his boss had been making fun of his caste.
