目前萬物皆漲，但還是有人堅持不漲價，而且理由是「媽祖說不能漲價」！新竹市鬧區北門街和愛文街口的明和麵店，開店廿多年以來，一碗麵到現在還是廿元，前幾年受不了而漲了五塊錢，老闆吳明和說，原因是「媽祖當晚就托夢不能漲價」。(彭清仁報導)

新竹市消費能力全台僅次於台北市，因此物價指數一直都相當高，但在新竹市鬧區北門大街長和宮旁，有一家長和麵店，卻是老新竹都知道好吃又大碗的麵店。而且 最難得的是，這家古早味的麵店，廿多年來只漲過一次價，但漲了一天之後，又降回原價，老闆吳明和笑著說，當晚媽祖就託夢「不能漲價」！
明和麵店廿多年來是一價到底，不管是切仔麵、炊粉、粄條和乾麵，一律每碗廿元，麵店老闆吳明和表示，因為媽姐的庇佑，多年前一場大病幾乎要了老命，由於長 和宮廟前廣場擺攤的吳明和向媽祖祈願，只要病好就會回饋社會，結果病真的好了，因此賣麵根本不是要賺錢，而是證明自己有能力煮麵給別人吃。除了一碗麵廿元 之外，店內招牌的炸肉、生腸、灌腸和豬肝，一盤都是卅元，常讓客人以為老闆算錯錢。明和麵店最忠實的客戶，除了週遭的街坊鄰居之外，就是附近正在發育期間 的學生，而這些學生長大甚至到外地工作，只要有回來，都會擠進明和麵店吃碗麵、叫碗湯再來盤炸肉，因為明和麵店除了賣古早味之外，賣的也是許多遊子的思鄉 情愁。
