THE body of a 10-year-old girl has been found in a rubbish bin in the US state of Georgia and her father and stepmother have been charged with murder.
Gwinnett County police said in a statement that a man called them early on Saturday saying he was suicidal and his daughter drank some type of chemical and was dead.
The man pointed officers to a rubbish bin at his Georgia apartment complex, where they found the badly burned body of a child.
The victim has been identified as Emani Moss. The father, Eman Moss, and the stepmother, Tiffany Moss, are charged with felony murder, cruelty to children in the first degree and concealing a body.
Gwinnett County Police Department officers responded to a suicide threat call at 1131 Veranda Chase Drive, unincorporated Lawrenceville, at 3.43am (local time) on Saturday. A male called 911 stating that he wanted to commit suicide. While talking to dispatchers the man stated that there was a dead body with him at the location.
Both father and stepmother are being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Centre.
The Gwinnett County Police Criminal Investigations Division is still handing the investigation and say more details will be released in the coming days.
