Police arrest woman, 50, who used Geylang Lor 23 food court for vice activities
43 others also arrested.



The Singapore police have arrested 44 persons for their suspected involvement in vice activities and the unlawful conduct of lotteries at a food court in the vicinity of Geylang Lorong 23.
An enforcement operation in the vicinity of Geylang Lorong 23 was conducted on May 29.
A total of 42 persons, aged between 25 and 63, were arrested at a food court for alleged offences under the Women’s Charter 1961.


One 50-year-old woman was also arrested at a hotel along Geylang Road for providing sexual services.
She allegedly used the food court as the place for assignation.
In addition, a 49-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly conducting unlawful lotteries at the food court.
Betting related paraphernalia were seized from her.
Investigations against the 44 persons are ongoing.
Penalties
Under the Women’s Charter 1961, any person who keeps, manages or assists in the management of a place of assignation, can be fined up to S$100,000 or jailed up to five years or both.A repeat offender can be fined up to S$150,000 or jailed up to seven years or both.
Under the Gambling Control Act 2022, any person who is found to be involved in the unlawful conduct of lotteries can be fined up to S$500,000 and jailed up to seven years.
The police said it does not condone any activities that threaten public safety, peace and good order of the community.
