WASHINGTON/BEIJING -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called out a top Chinese trade negotiator Li Chenggang as "very disrespectful" on Wednesday, amid a clash over restrictions on rare-earth imports.

The port fee imposed on the Chinese vessel has backfired, triggering retaliatory measures from China that are now affecting American economic and shipping interests.
