Earlier today, a German man named Elton Henrys posted on SMRT's Facebook page showing him and an accomplice standing in front of a SMRT train supposedly at Bishan MRT depot. As of 9am, the post has been removed from SMRT's Facebook timeline.
The man boasted that he had just spray painted SMRT's MRT train and is assumed to have broken into the protected facility to commit his mischief. It is unclear when he committed the act of vandalism.
He posted: "Was very nice to spraypaint your smrt Train! thanks Singapore!"
Back in 2014, 2 German nationals were arrested for committing a similar act of breaking into Bishan depot and vandalizing the trains. Despite SMRT putting in place further security measures to prevent a recurrence of such an incident, it appears to have failed in preventing further intrusions into the protect area.
After repeated cases of break-ins into Bishan Depot, is it time for the axe to fall on SMRT management who have repeatedly failed to protect the security of our public transport infrastructure. If the vandals can break into Bishan depot for mischief, so can a potential terrorist who is out to harm Singaporeans?
