Don't be naive! No double headed snakes are allowed to freely defect to the wining side from the loser side, unless there is a irreversible and very significant merits, plus assurance of loyalty. How to prove?

投名状在古代用于忠诚之征，意思是加入一个组织前，以该组织认可的行为表示忠心。其所谓“但凡好汉们入伙，须要纳投名状”，大意是指一个人在进入绿林时必须签署的一份生死契约，有了“投名状”便落草为寇。而摆脱“投名状”的方法，就只有接受官府的招安这一条路了。所以后世就沿用了这一系列的说法即为“投名状”。

小说原文描写：林冲道：“小人一身犯了死罪，因此来投入伙，何故相疑？”王伦道：“既然如此，你若真心入伙，把一个‘投名状’来。”林冲便道：“小人颇识几字，乞纸笔来便写。”朱贵笑道：“教头你错了。但凡好汉们入伙，须要纳投名状，是教你下山去杀得一个人，将头献纳，他便无疑心，这个便谓之投名状。”林冲道：“这事也不难，林冲便下山去等，只怕没人过。”王伦道：“与你三日限。若三日内有投名状来，便容你入伙；若三日内没时，只得休怪。”林冲应承了，自回房中宿歇，闷闷不已。

書中的全句為「但凡好漢們入伙，須要納投名狀。」
當時林沖(禁軍教頭)被高太尉逼上梁山，而梁山當家王倫
為了測試他，要他納投名狀以示誠心，所謂投名狀就是隨
意殺一個無所謂的人，來證明自己棄官從賊。因為梁山是
一個綠林組織，所以要加入，必須以殺一個人來證明其決
心與膽量，而且自己先犯了殺人罪，以後就不會有告密之虞。

後來很多小說書籍就引用投名狀一詞，表示加入一個組織或
兄弟結義必要的宣示動作，以示忠誠，同生共死。

  刺馬是清末四大奇案之一，也是有清一代破天荒總督刺殺案．人說人類只要有重大事件發生就有謠傳八卦的寄生處．這話一點不假．兩江總督馬新貽進行標下營兵考核，校場上突然衝出一男子，喊着：大人有冤．沒來及會意，一把短刃就刺穿他，送醫不治．刺客張文祥被捕．馬新貽的死，民間流言紛至．最點型就是說他與張文祥，曹二虎結拜．張為首，馬為小．馬勾曹老婆，為掩其醜，將曹派往運送軍火．借故殺之．張文祥引以為恨，決定殺之替曹報仇．當然還有很多謠傳,有說馬新貽是回人，通回賣國被張知道將他殺去，有說馬新貽處理丁日昌兒子殺人案引起當事人不滿，張文祥是他買來的殺手．有說馬新貽整頓非法典當的小押店，令張活不下去，買刀殺之．當然很多說法都是民間流傳，連曾國藩都擺不定．但馬新貽的死若看看朝廷當時冷淡的態度來說，加上馬新貽很新潮，令保守人士不滿，又有人認為跟慈禧太后妹婿醇王有關．這件案子到今天一直莫衷一是，無法蓋棺論定.除了結案人是曾國藩及兇手被凌遲碎剮外，一切都是謎團．

  聽說這片的故事大綱是取材自清末四大奇案之一的《刺馬案》
  
  其中一個民間傳說的版本，《投名狀》的主角龐青雲，就是清末同治九年在南京遇刺身亡的兩江總督馬新貽，而江午陽的角色，就是當年刺死馬新貽的兇手張汶祥，而趙二虎的角色，就是傳說中馬新貽與張汶祥的結義兄弟曹二虎。
  
  據說此片原名為《刺馬》，但由於七十年代台灣導演張徹都拍過同名電影，為免令觀眾有『先入為主』之感，才把片名及主角姓名都改了。
  
  最經典的不外乎是：
  今有龐青雲、趙二虎、姜午陽
  納投名狀，結兄弟義，
  死生相託、吉凶相救、
  福禍相依、患難相扶、
  外人亂我兄弟者、視投名狀、必殺之，
  兄弟亂我兄弟者、視投名狀、必殺之，
  天地作證，山河為盟，

  同治九年(公元1870年)八月，上任兩年的兩江總督馬新貽
  
  參加一年一度的閱校(檢閱軍隊)大典，閱校的地點在南京兩江總督府旁的校場，當時官府容許人民在校場兩旁觀看，故閱校時校場兩旁擁滿圍觀的民眾。
  
  閱校完畢，馬新貽與一眾官員離開步行返總督府，突然有一男子從民眾中走到馬新貽前，把刀刺入馬新貽胸膛，馬新貽即時受傷倒地，延至翌日傷重不治。而刺殺馬新貽的男子卻沒有逃走，刺了馬新貽後只大叫『養兵千日，用在一時』、『一人做事一人當』，當場被捕，而後來發覺此人為河南人張文祥(由於清廷慣於將罪犯的名字加上水旁或草花頭，以表明他們是汪洋大盜或草莽大盜，故張汶祥原名應是張文祥)。
  
  兩江總督為最高級的地方官吏，故馬新貽遇刺身亡事件震動全國，連在北京的慈禧太后也下令要嚴正徹查。
  
  但最初調查此案的官員江寧將軍魁玉以及藩司梅啟照
  
  最初都以兇嫌張文祥『言辭閃爍』『一味支離』
  
  為由遲遲未有結果，而跟著就提出一個一般人都大感疑惑的結論。
