BTW, there are many fundamentalist Christians out there who still believe the ancient church doctrine that the earth is flat and the sun revolves round the earth. But they're a teeny minority.

You have hit the nail squarely on its head. Christian states have progressed and no longer live in the dark ages because they are enlightened. Their believers are not committing barbaric acts like "honour killings". There is absolutely no honour in murdering another person.
