An actor famous for his role as an intelligence agent on a popular TV show has been arrested after he was identified as a fugitive suspected in an attack on a police officer 13 years ago, authorities in northeast Heilongjiang province said Wednesday.
Ji Siguang, who used the alias Zhang Guofeng while performing in more than 30 popular TV dramas, including the 2008 hit "Lurk," was nabbed Dec. 8 in the eastern city of Jinhua, Zhejiang province, while playing a Buddhist monk in a drama, local police in Tsitsihar city said.

Ji is accused of being one of four men who assaulted a police officer and took his gun in 1998 in Tsitsihar, according to authorities. The three other men were apprehended by police years ago.

Ji eluded police by absconding to Beijing and southern parts of China, making a living as an actor, police said.

An anonymous tip led to his arrest.
