The crocodile died after being hit on the head with large rocks.
A crocodile in a Tunisian zoo has died after a group of visitors stoned it to death, in what authorities slammed as "savage behaviour".
The crocodile was found badly bloodied beside a huge slab and another large rock after the attack, understood to have occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
"It's terrible. You cannot imagine what animals endure from some visitors," zoo veterinarian Amor Ennaifer told the AFP.

"Citizens leave waste and plastic bags ... They throw stones at lions and hippos."
"There are more than 150 species in the zoo. We can't put a guard in front of each cage," he told the AFP. "People need to be aware of the need to respect animals."
