U are wrong. South koreans are not stupid. Nobody wants to treat an american pregnant woman as they are known to sue for slightest mistake or even no mistake even if medical care is free in USA..most are ungrateful craps. Thanks to the lawyers and extremely litigatious society and mimdset of all these karens. That's why all OGY in usa has stop practicing obstetrics. Im sure when the hospital and doctors heard she is American no one wants to ruin their career. Same reason that's why no doctor would help if u have an emergency during flight. They would ask pilot to divert to nearest airport. Happen very often in usa . That's what happens when u have too many lawyers

Healthcare in south korea are controlled by the elites.
When government wanted to increase medical student intake, the doctors protested and went on strike.

An 18-month strike by thousands of South Korean trainee doctors and medical students, which began in February 2024 to oppose government plans to significantly increase medical school admissions, ended on September 1, 2025. The walkout, protesting against a plan to add over 2,000 spots, caused severe disruptions, including surgery cancellations and reduced emergency services.

Key Details of the Conflict

  • Cause: The government proposed to increase medical school quotas by over 2,000 seats to address doctor shortages, but strikers argued it would undermine the quality of education and fail to fix fundamental issues in the healthcare system.
  • The Strike: Over 10,000 junior doctors and interns resigned or walked out, with many medical students boycotting classes.
  • Impact: Hospitals operated with significant shortages, leading to postponed treatments, strained emergency rooms, and the deployment of military doctors.
  • Resolution: The strike concluded in September 2025 following a deal between the health ministry and the doctors, allowing trainees to return without penalty. The government also decided in March 2025 to scale back the proposed plan, though the move initially received a lukewarm response.

Core Issues Behind the Strike
  • Regional Imbalances: While the government pointed to a lack of doctors, professionals complained of poor working conditions in critical fields like pediatrics and emergency medicine.
  • Structural Issues: Doctors often cited low compensation in certain specialties and high litigation risks.
  • Aging Population: Both sides acknowledged the need for reform to handle an aging population, but strongly disagreed on the methods, say the

That was my initial thought too: the woman's nationality. But rate of rejection at EDs throughout South Korea is unacceptably high for a developed nation... so there's a systemic problem there. They have 9,000 plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam district alone, for crying out loud... but not enough staff to man EDs. How fucked up can it get?

ai:

Yes, a twin pregnancy is generally considered a high-risk pregnancy. This is because carrying twins increases the chances of complications for both the mother and the babies compared to a singleton pregnancy. Some of the risks associated with twin pregnancies include preterm birth, low birth weight, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and complications during delivery. Due to these increased risks, twin pregnancies typically require closer monitoring and more frequent prenatal care to manage and reduce potential complications.
