Harrowing ride on bus with driver who beat red light

LAST Sunday, I boarded SBS Transit service 123 (SBS 8058H) from opposite Tiong Bahru Plaza at about 6.30pm. After the bus turned into Bukit Purmei Road, the driver beat the red light despite having sufficient time to brake. What was more appalling was the fact that the green man had come on as the bus zoomed past the traffic light and there was an elderly man waiting to cross the road. I shudder to think of the consequences had the man been on the road at that time.
Furthermore, the bus driver overshot bus stops a few times and seemed to display an alarming sense of recklessness, thus potentially compromising the safety of commuters, motorists and pedestrians.
Apart from that, when a passenger got on the bus and asked for some information, the driver seemed completely lost and could not grasp what was being relayed to him. Fortunately, one of the other passengers was able to help.
I hope the authorities would hire more qualified drivers who have a higher regard for safety and are able to relate to the needs of commuters.
