The govt did not bring F1 to Singapore for the sake of Singaporeans. If it had sinkies in mind, F1 would have made an appearance in Singapore more than 15 years ago when SMSC first proposed an F1 track on what is now the Laguna golf club.
However, Singapore's manufacturing sector was booming at the time and the economy was humming along nicely. F1 was the last thing on Pappy minds. Those fuckwits are only interested in golf.
Fast forward to 2008 and the Singapore economy is on extremely shaky ground. F1 is one of the few ways the country can earn valuable foreign exchange to keep its million dollar ministers going.
F1 is for foreigners. It is not there for Sinkies.
