A gas station in Binh Duong Province was caught on Thursday cheating customers out of 2-3 percent of what its pumps were showing, in addition to violating various other regulations.

The pumps at the Doc Lap private company station were checked so suddenly that workers were unable to clear the data recorded earlier that day.

Inspectors discovered the fraud after more than two hours of monitoring the pumps. The station at No.1 Doc Lap Street, Di An Town, also failed to list prices and post warnings about their low quality diesel fuel, both legal requirements.

Records at the station showed that it was selling more than 100,000 liters of gas and diesel each month.

Gas and diesel samples have been taken for quality testing, while the company has been issued written records of the investigation's findings.

Previously, the Binh Duong Department of Industry and Trade had publicized the phone numbers of local market managers in an effort to fight fraudulent gas trading.

The managers had received several complaints about the gas station of Doc Lap Company, prompting inspectors to take action.
