French President Francois Hollande has informed his NATO allies that he plans to pull his troops out of Afghanistan two years early.
The newly-elected president said France will complete the withdrawal of its combat troops by the end of 2012. France has 3,400
troops in Afghanistan and their withdrawal breaks with NATO’s timetable of a unified pullout by the end of 2014.
Francois Hollande, French President, said, "Combat troops will be withdrawn from Afghanistan starting now and until the end of the
year. In 2013, only military trainers for the Afghan police force and for the high-ranking officers of the Afghan army will remain."
