Following the Hamas attack in Israel on Saturday October 7, two individuals were brought in immediate court for “apology of terrorism” and “repeated death threats made because of religion”, BFMTV learned from the public prosecutor’s office in Paris.

The first individual was arrested on Sunday October 8 in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. The man who said he was Syrian shouted “Allahu Akbar” in front of a synagogue school around 1:50 p.m.

This Tuesday, October 10, he was brought in for immediate appearance for “repeated death threats made because of religion” and “violence against a person holding public authority which did not result in incapacity for work.” The case was postponed until November 20, and the defendant was remanded in custody.

The same day, in the 16th arrondissement of the capital, another individual was arrested near the ACIP synagogue. He is accused of having shouted “dirty Jews, 150 dead is not a lot. More would have been needed” in front of the place of worship, around 1:55 p.m.

Four individuals released
He was brought in for immediate appearance on October 10, 2023 for “glorification of terrorism” and “repeated death threats made because of religion.” The case was postponed until November 20 and the defendant placed under judicial supervision.

Furthermore, during the night from Sunday to Monday, around 1 a.m., four individuals were arrested on the Iéna bridge, in the 7th arrondissement. The police spotted them while an individual, drunk, was wearing a Palestinian flag and a keffiyeh.

According to a witness present, they shouted “Long live Palestine, death to the Jews, death to Israel.” Placed in police custody, they were released without prosecution because there was no evidence allowing investigators to corroborate possible contentious statements.

In all in France, “more than 20 arrests” have taken place since Saturday October 7, announced Gérald Darmanin this Wednesday October 11 from a Jewish school in Sarcelles (Val d’Oise).
