Four HK locals breaking into PLA barracks deny charges
Xinhua, January 30, 2014
Four Hong Kong locals who illegally forced into the headquarters of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison in December last year appeared in Hong Kong's Eastern Magistrates' Courts Thursday and denied charges of " entering into restricted area without permission".
The defendants, three males and one female, were bailed out by paying 500 HK dollars (64.4 U.S. dollars) each.
In Hong Kong, the maximum penalty for breaking into a military base is two years' imprisonment and a fine of 500 HK dollars.
The magistrate arranged the pretrial review on Feb. 27, and before that time the defendants are not allowed to contact with the prosecuting witnesses who were on guard at PLA barracks on Dec. 26.
The four local residents violated the Public Order Ordinance of Hong Kong and the Garrison Law which prohibit entry into the PLA Garrison's barracks without permission.
