SINGAPORE: Former National University of Singapore law professor Tey Hsun Hang has succeeded in his appeal against his conviction and sentence.

A fine of S$514.80 -- equivalent to the value of two tailored shirts and part of the cost of a dinner -- which he was ordered to pay, will also be refunded to him.

Justice Woo Bih Li ruled that Tey's former student, Ms Darinne Koh, did not give him presents and had sexual relations with him in order to get better grades.

He also said that the trial judge had erred in equating a "morally apprehensible act" with legal wrong and set aside all six charges against the professor.

However, Justice Woo had harsh words for him.

He said that Tey was a "man without honour" who had exploited his student and that he should take a "long, hard look" at himself.

Tey has also completed a five-month jail term pending the result of the appeal. He was released in October last year.

Re: Former National University of Singapore law professor Tey Hsun Hang has succeeded

you can see my link below.
shameful CPIB and Eric Tan.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is me again, your familiar Ginger. I want to tell you dirty stories of CPIB and its boss Eric Tan which are very shameful to Singaporeans.

1) Arrogant, Uncivil and Disrespectful to their own Predecessor.
Yoong Siew Wah was once CPIB Director. However Eric Tan purposely shamed him by not inviting him to CPIB 60th Anniversary.

An Aspect of the CPIB Arrogant, Uncivil?
http://singaporerecalcitrant.blogspot.sg/2012/09/an-aspect-of-cpib-arrogant-uncivil.html

2) Corruption and Dishonest within CPIB
This is the mother of all jokes. Mr. Yoong Siew Wah summed up nicely in his article:
The Downfall of Eric Tan, CPIB Director
http://singaporerecalcitrant.blogspot.sg/2013/08/the-downfall-of-eric-tan-cpib-director.html

Mr Edwin Yeo cheated SGD1.8MILLION from CPIB and it was all due to Eric Tan negligent. However, Eric Tan was merely transferred to other division as his talent is greatly appreciated my Lee Hsien Loong.

Quote From PM LEE
He will be redeployed to other duties where his knowledge and experience will be valuable.

3) Serial Womaniser Teng Khee Fatt
This old fart must be the serial womaniser in CPIB and he accompanied Cecilia Sue in a sedan car. He must have the sexual urge when he sniffed Cecilia Sue perfume in the car. This was exposed by Tan Chee Meng, SC.

This only shows that CPIB is downright unprofessional from top Eric Tan and Teng Khee Fatt to Edwin Yeo.

4) Forgetful CPIB Teng Khee Fatt
He forgot to write the word "not" in his station diary. I think this guy dreamed too much of Cecilia Sue?

Quote from Teng Khee Fatt:
Earlier, the court also took issue with an entry in Teng’s station diary which indicated that Sue had told him that she was willing to take a lie detector test. The senior officer replied that he had missed out the word “not” in his notes.

5) Uneducated and Hokkien Peng CPIB Teng Khee Fatt
This guy failed his basic English but he is a deputy Director!
Quote from Teng Khee Fatt:
The CPIB deputy director said that he had asked professor to only look up the word "conscientious" for him in the dictionary, as he could not spell it.

7) Gangster, Thugs CPIB
This article from ex SPH editor mentioned all the dirty tricks by CPIB from top Teng Khee Fatt to young thugs like Wilson Khoo and Bay Chun How

CPIB threatened to arrest Tey Tsun Hang wife just like law enforcers threatened to arrest Tang Liang Hong wife.
Hello, why corruption is linked to accused wife?

alleged threats to arrest his wife and detain him and instances of being "badgered" to confess to accepting items from his students were accepted by Justice Woo.

8) Anyhow Tangkap (Catch) CPIB
CPIB have very little legal knowledge. However, due to the immerse power given by PM Lee, they anyhow tangkap and charged people and sent them to Jail!

Anyhow tangkap 1 (IKEA)
Choo Han Teck
He said: "The offence of corruption does not capture a situation like the present one, where he created his own secret benefit and not that it was a gratification given to him as a reward. Whatever the appellant was guilty of, I find that it was not corruption under the PCA (Prevention of Corruption Act)."

Anyhow Tangkap 2: (SEAGATE LOGISTICS)
Choo Han Teck
He said: "Corruption is a narrow subset of situations which involve a conflict of interest and is defined under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
“The inference that suspicious activities arising from a conflict of interest must be corrupt must be resisted."

9) Nepotism in CPIB
Initially Bernard Lim Yong Soon was investigated and charged by CPIB. However, after the subsequent charge and during Pre Trial Conference, the charge was changed to the less serious charge of lying.

Re: Former National University of Singapore law professor Tey Hsun Hang has succeeded

shameful to Tan Siong Thye
Do you still remember Michael Khoo?
He is a senior counsel, senior district judge, registrar of the supreme court, deputy public prosecutor. He is such a high calibre legal eagle.

Why he was transferred from Senior District Judge to Deputy Public Prosecutor?
He was a senior district judge in JBJ 1986 trial and he found JBJ clear of all charges except one. The invisible hand was very upset and immediately AGC claimed for retrial and JBJ was sentenced to jail. Michael Khoo was transferred to AGC immediately after JBJ trial.

http://asiasentinel.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1432&Itemid=31

Michael Khoo is one of the courageous sinkie judge that we ever see and he is definitely not a judge without backbone.

Now, let us look at Tan Siong Thye academic credential. He was a chief district judge. He was graduated in 1979.
http://law.nus.edu.sg/alumni/alumni_directory.asp?Year=1979
He is definitely not a brilliant NUS graduate in his batch compared with CJ Choo Han Teck and Ho Peng Kee.
Insider said that Tan Siong Thye is not even a second class upper law graduate.
His academic credential is just so so.
http://www.lawsociety.org.sg/conference/ADR/speakers/Tan Siong Thye.aspx

Readers may want to ask why Tan Siong Thye is promoted to High Court?

http://www.straitstimes.com/breakin...yer-appointed-judicial-commissioners-20130930

On the same day, See Kee On and Ong Hian Sun were also promoted.

Now look at See Kee Oon and Ong Hian Sun academic credentials
See Kee Oon: FIRST CLASS honours from Cambridge
http://www.lawsociety.org.sg/conference/ADR/speakers/See Kee Oon.aspx

Ong Hian Sun
http://www.lawsociety.org.sg/Conference/CLC2011/speakers/Chief-Prosecutor-Mr-Ong-Hian-Sun.aspx
This guy has solid background and holds different positions compared with Tan Shiong Thye.

So Tan Siong Thye is the weakest but promoted to the highest rank in High Court.
Why is that so?
This guy is a ball carrier and under his belt, he brokered SMRT case.
http://atans1.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/smrt-ask-judge-to-step-down/

he said:
In his closing remarks, Chief District Judge Tan Siong Thye said train operator SMRT had shown it was prepared to learn from its mistakes.

so much money has been spent on SMRT court case and what has Tan Siong Thye contributed to Singapore society? None as he only talked the good things on behalf of SMRT.
Do you see any improvement on SMRT after the legal case handled by Tan Siong Thye?

Conclusion:
Singapore is not a meritocracy country!
In Singapore, in order to succeed in life, you dont have to be a first class or second class upper law graduate.
Most Importantly, you must be able to carry the balls and you are one of the clans.

Otherwise why MR SEE KEE OON Cambridge First Class is not as good as Tan Siong Thye?
Otherwise why MR MICHAEL KHOO SC was not promoted to High Court?

I invite brothers for comments.

Ex-law prof Tey Tsun Hang cleared of corruption by High Court

By Selina Lum

Former law professor Tey Tsun Hang, accused of obtaining sex and gifts from one of his students, was on Friday acquitted of corruption by the High Court.

But even as he cleared Mr Tey of criminal wrongdoing, Justice Woo Bih Li had strong words for the ex-professor, saying that he was "a man without honour".

Mr Tey, 42, was not in court to hear the decision. He had chosen to serve the five-month jail term handed down by a district court that convicted him in June last year and has since been released from prison.

Justice Woo, giving his decision in a packed courtroom on Friday, said that Mr Tey had abused his position as a lecturer and had exploited law student Darinne Ko.
