SINGAPORE - A former banquet coordinator who tried to pocket staff payments at the hotel where she worked was jailed four weeks for forgery on Monday.

Lynn Cai Huiling, 32, was responsible for hiring waiting staff for events at Orchard Hotel and handled payment vouchers for part-timers.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Stacey Ann Fernandez said investigation showed that Cai took five blank payment vouchers without authorisation from the hotel's security office on Oct 29, 2010.

She filled them out with the particulars of five Chinese nationals who had previously worked there part-time, to deceive the hotel into paying them a total of $405 in cash.
