That's the present state of affairs which was the point I was making. In the old days, the Malays were fishermen, gardeners and drivers. However, thanks to the Chinese immigrants in Singapore, the Malays advanced and today they enjoy a high standard of living.

Your Maths is absolutely correct. The jobs have been created but Singaporeans are choosy and only want the easy work or there are no Singaporeans with the necessary skills. There therefore not enough suitable Singaporeans to fill all the vacancies.
