A woman who provided escort services was on Wednesday charged with extorting money from a customer, with police linking her to three other similar cases.
Tanya Pal, 27, was charged with one count of extortion after allegedly extorting $1,800 from a man who had procured her services. The incident happened at around 3.30pm on Sunday. Police were alerted to the case at around 7.45pm on the same day.
The Singaporean woman is accused of committing the act at about 3.30pm on March 5 at a flat in Block 397, Yishun Avenue 6.
A police statement showed that the man gave S$1,800 to Pal first via bank transfer. The man reported the case to the police on the evening of March 5 and the police identified the accused, arresting her within 19 hours of the report. Pal is believed to be involved in three other similar reported cases, involving a total sum of at least S$19,000.
