Five people arrested for involvement in online vice-related activities

SINGAPORE: Five people have been arrested for suspected involvement in online vice-related activities.

Police raided a hotel along Serangoon Road where they arrested the two men and three women aged between 20 and 25.

Investigations showed that the illicit activities were advertised via internet websites where potential customers could book the services.

Under the provisions of the Women's Charter (Chapter 353), any person found guilty of knowingly living wholly or in part on earnings of the prostitution of another person can be fined up to S$10,000, be jailed up to five years, or both.

Any male person who is convicted of a second or subsequent offence under this provision can be caned.
