Fire broke out at a Carrefour supermarket in downtown Beijing on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3:10pm, heavy smoke and open flames were seen from a Carrefour outlet building in the city's Chaoyang district. Many people were seen gathering on the roof of the building.

Firefighters and medical workers have arrived at the scene.
