Thugs hired on Oct. 29 by a local Communist Party office in Hebei province obviously had not watched enough kung fu movies before they tried to "persuade" the family of a famous martial artist to sign over their property to the government. The negotiations ended with seven of them sprawled on the floor while the family casually filmed the aftermath.
The Shen family home was one of around 30 households scheduled to be demolished to clear the way for a government construction project. As is often the case, families caught within the government's blueprint are relocated, sometimes to areas far away from and with far fewer local facilities than the homes they leave. While there has been the occasional victory — the house owned by the family of Luo Baogen now sits smack in the middle of a Zhejiang highway after they insisted that the government compensation was not enough — most are eventually coerced to leave.
The father of the Shen family had more than just words to back up his refusal to move, however. He has reportedly won multiple medals in martial arts competitions and even holds a Guinness world record in the field, according to the local police. He also trained his son from an early age, making them a formidable duo.
Formidable enough that when three men showed up at their house to negotiate their relocation compensation, the father-son duo quickly dispatched them when the talks came to blows. Four men who came rushing in as reinforcements also ended up piled on top of their fellow thugs, as may be seen in the video footage taken by the family.
No one was seriously injured, according to a local newspaper.
The family claims that the hired hands illegally broke into their residence. The police said they have begun looking into the fight and will determination whether the conflict was a case of forced intrusion and violence.
