<!-- Begin #main --><!-- Begin .post -->World Bank Emigration Data for Singapore
Thanks to this Temasek Review article, I was alerted to the World Bank’s data (pdf} on emigration from Singapore. The emigrant population is 6.1% of the total population, and 10.4% of the total non-immigrant population. That is, 10.4% of native-born Singaporeans choose to emigrate.
They also have emigration rates for skilled workers. The emigration rate of the tertiary-educated population is 15.2%, and that of physicians, is 15.5%. These are figures from 2000. Strangely enough, in the Factbook the page for top countries in terms of emigrating physicians as a percentage of population does not include Singapore, even though the emigration rate of physicians trained in Singapore is higher than the bottom eight countries on that page:
As you can see, a higher percentage of Singapore-trained physicians emigrate, compared to Malaysia-trained physicians.
Other interesting facts:

Other interesting facts:
- The top destination countries for emigrants from Singapore are Malaysia, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, India, Brunei Darussalam, the Netherlands, and Japan. The last two are somewhat surprising.
- Singapore ranks among the top for immigrants as percentage of population:
