Former Minister Vivian Balakrishnan today responded to media queries over his infringement of the election law and he blamed Facebook for the "glitch".

The offending post was put up at 1.52am this morning, and hence has infringed the election law where no campaigning is allowed on cooling-off day.

Vivian Balakrishnan engaged a media spokesperson who said that the minister has explained to the Elections Department that he is aware that the Facebook post in question – which was first published on Sept 4 - has been “auto-posting recurrently”.

However, States Times Review has confirmed that Vivian Balakrishnan did not post the follow wordings "Met many, many more of our Cashew family today during campaigning..." from a search on his Facebook and Twitter account in 2015 at all. There is no such posting on September 4 either.

Vivian Balakrishnan is also unable to produce evidence backing up his claim that the post appeared recurrent as he claimed.
