One of the ways to go to Morocco is the fast ferry from Spain.

This Aussie-built ferry is one of the fastest plying the Tarifa-Tangier route.

Immigration visa is obtained on the ferry itself, and make sure the Moroccan Immigration stamp the visa with a VISA NUMBER clearly marked.

Free-seating on the ferry, you can sit at the cafe, dining table, in front of the jackpot machine, or pay a bit more on board for First Class seats.

Tip: The First Class section is pointless if you do not have visa, you may be spending up to half the journey queuing for the visa (free 90 days for Australian/Japanese Passport holders, 30 days for Singapore Passport).

Interesting note: The Spain port of Tarifa is where the English word, Tariff comes from, because they used to tax the goods going into Spain.

My advice: Keep away from street performancer and el-Fnaa

I never had problems in Morocco until I arrived in Marrakesh.

Even the taxi drivers are dishonest, unlike Fez & Meknes. I paid too much for a grande taxi ride to the hotel. After that, I was on guard.

I was so happy living up in Fez, staying in a simple riad which has a full-time staff and use of kitchen. The staff was excellent, giving me candles and Moroccan CDs to make the riad feels like Arabian nights.

A fellow traveller took the red petite taxi (Fiat Uno little car) in Fez and the taxi driver returned his jacket which he left on his taxi.

The atmosphere in Marrakesh is different from Fes.

I spent some time people watching from a cafe in Jemaa el-Fnaa to get the feel of the place, and hawkers setting up stalls for the night.

Luckily, I had a great time in the Marrakesh medina.

Some parts of Morocco has a "Malaysia" feel, esp when driving down the expressway and stopping at the service station mart.

High Atlas mountain, Dades Gorge and a university in the Middle Atlas mountain (notice the steep roofs for snowy days)

I did not have dinner there. Some cruises include dinner, and of course ... the song.
Rick's Cafe does not exist in real life, but its re-creation is based on the movie. The re-created cafe is found in an urban city (a double-storey art-deco like shophouse).

As time goes by

You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
Well, it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by
Oh yes, the world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by
