Sex-for-contracts case: Ex-SCDF chief trial to start on Jan 14

Former Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) chief Peter Lim's trial dates were confirmed on Friday, after the final pre-trial conference between the prosecution and defence.

Lim, who faces 10 counts of corruption in a sex-for-contracts case similar to former anti-drug agency chief Ng Boon Gay's, will go on trial from Jan 14 to 16. A second tranche will take place in February.

The prosecution will proceed on only one of the 10 charges tendered, it was decided earlier. This involves Lim, 52, obtaining sex from Nimrod Engineering's Ms Pang Chor Mui in exchange for advancing the business interests of the company with the SCDF.

The nine remaining charges, which involve sex with two other women, were stood down. This, however, does not mean they have been withdrawn but can be raised again later.

So Ms Pang Chor Mui , one of the 3 women will testify in the the corruption, sex-for-deal case against the disgraced former SCDF chief Peter Lim Sin Pang. (Finally photographers will have ample opportunities to finally snap a photo or two of Ms Pang Chor Mui, huh?)

What I wonder is that why only 1 charge (involving Ms Pang Chor Mui) will stand? How about the remaining 9 charges?

Why the charges involving Ms Esther Goh Tok Mui would be 'stood down'? They allegedly had sex seven times between April 20 and Nov 13 last year. The first time was in a carpark near the Marina Bay Golf Course. Then it was in an apartment in Tanjong Rhu - once in May and another time between Sept 3 and 6 last year. Lim is registered as an apartment resident of 1, Rhu Cross. The pair also had sex in a carpark near Singapore Indoor Stadium around May19 last year. The final three charges - between September and Nov 13 last year - involves sex in a Clementi flat.

Likewise with the charges involving Ms Lee Wei Hoon who allegedly had sex with Lim between Oct 18 and 21 last year in a hotel in Paris, France, and had oral sex around Nov 23 last year at a carpark at East Coast Park's Big Splash.
