A SAF regular broke into a man’s condo in 2022 and made off with info linked to the latter’s cryptocurrency wallet. Teo Rong Xuan, who left the SAF in 2023 where he was a captain with the Naval Diving Unit, later used the info – a “seed phrase” made up of words and serial numbers – to access the man’s cryptocurrency wallet and stole USD1.7 million.

I thought that a SAF officer has to lead by example, have integrity and exhibit decisiveness. He must possess the ability to influence, inspire and develop soldiers, taking responsibility and acting as a moral role model. SAF Captain Teo Rong Xuan lacks all of the above.
