Ex-girlfriend wins dog custody battle

SINGAPORE: The Court of Appeal ruled Thursday morning that cross-terrier, Sasha, will stay in the care of senior specialist in professional development, Connie Tan.
Ms Tan, 30, has been embroiled in a law suit with her ex-boyfriend, Dr Tan Kok Chye, a surgeon based in the United States, since March last year over custody of the dog.
The couple had adopted Sasha in August 2008 when they were living in Alabama.
Ms Tan returned to Singapore with Sasha in November 2008 when the couple broke up.
In March, last year, Sasha disappeared and was traced to Dr Tan's mother's apartment in Cavenagh Road, although the mother made it clear that she did not know what the spat between the pair was about.
Ms Tan then sued her ex-boyfriend and his mother.
She was granted a temporary court order to keep Sasha and in March, this year, the court decided that Sasha would remain under her care.
The ruling did not sit well with Dr Tan who lodged an appeal.
Thursday morning, Justice Chao Hick Tin said the court did not see any basis in his appeal.
Dr Tan was also ordered to pay S$6,000 in costs.
