A croupier at the Marina Bay Sands casino slipped a $5,000 chip into his right sock on three occasions between April and August.

Joseph Tan Shi Yi, 26, blew most of this money gambling at Genting Highlands and in a casino on a cruise ship.

On Sept 16, the 26-year-old, now jobless, was jailed six months for committing criminal breach of trust.

A district court heard that he paid $200 to an unknown Chinese national to cash out the first chip.

Must be some dumb chinese national. Most people would want a 50% cut on such deal. This chinese national would cash the chip for $5000, hands over $4800 to the croupier and keep $200 himself.
